Online Freelancing How To Build Your Own Article Distribution Service

By dick dicksonn

More and much internet advertising strategies are being created with every passing day. This denotes more and more jobs for the internet marketer to do. Several of these chores are simply too tedious. Their repetitive nature is often too much for an individual to bear.

Consider for example article marketing. Article selling is one of the greatest if not THE finest means to advertise your trade in the internet. However, this includes submitting an article to many, many, many article listings and communal news channels. If every distribution will go on for 5 minutes, which is a munificent calculation, then submitting a sole article to just 20 places will take almost 2 hours.

Hence, internet advertisers have found the need for article allocation services.

Nowadays, quite a number of enterprising web residents have appointed it their trade to give their services in order to circulate their clients articles to hundreds, if not thousands, of online ends

Writing Your Own E-book

By Tiva Kelly

There are many options available to you when it comes to marketing via your writing. To achieve consistent sales as an affiliate marketer it’s wise to employ several of them. From article marketing to web content writing, you can promote your business effectively with words. Another avenue to consider is writing an e-book.

Writing your own e-book has two primary advantages. First, you can sell your e-book online. Second, within your e-book you can include links to your other websites. Therefore, you can earn actual dollars from your e-book sale, while building traffic for your business.

Another great thing about writing an e-book is the potential to gain continuing income streams. While you are off performing other marketing initiatives, your e-book could be earning you money for years. Your have completed the hard work. The book is available online at various web portals. You are onto your next project. Meanwhile this book is earning you income and links when you are not even thinking about it.

That’s the difference between marketing information and marketing an information product. With your article writing and your article distribution efforts, you are pre-selling. You are establishing yourself as a credible, knowledgeable affiliate marketer. You are marketing information while getting your links distributed.

Marketing an information product, such as your e-book is a different animal. You are marketing “the product” even as the product does the same for your business as article marketing does. Your e-book establishes you as an authority on your chosen topic. Your e-book gets your links to others. Your e-book earns you income as it does this.

Of course, you can write an e-book and give it away too. This would be a gift or bonus item for someone opting into your newsletter. It may be a reward for ordering an affiliate product from you. It may be an incentive to encourage potential customers to engage in further dealings with you. You can build a lot of goodwill by giving away a top-notch e-book you authored.

Let’s look at a few ways to write and present a quality e-book to your niche. Instituting these ideas can help you create an e-book useful to your customers and your pocketbook:

Understand Whom You Are Writing For

Target your e-book to a particular niche. Do not try to make your e-book appeal to everyone across all categories and topics. The e-book will lack focus and be too general. In other words, it won’t be special. There’s nothing wrong with targeting a large niche. However, make sure it’s a specific niche. You want to write for a niche who values specialized information. An e-book on how to open your own flower shop focuses on a specific retail audience. You are not trying to inform all retailers everywhere.

Quality Sells-Fluff Yells

Customers know when they have a good thing. An e-book loaded with useful information in a vibrant voice is a good thing. You engage, interest, inspire and inform when your present an e-book of this caliber. Quality sells because customers perceive they are getting value for their money.

Fluff yells. By this, we mean that fluff is reputation killing. The word will get out that your e-book is worthless. This yelling will be from those who tell others that they bought something useless. They gained no new information or insight for dollars spent. In frustration, they will yell into cyberspace, they’ve been duped. Guess whose book title will be flashing on blog posts and forums.

Write on Topics People Crave

Choose your niche, yes, but be cognizant of what broad category they inhabit. The major ones of interest to people are Health and Wellness, Business, Lifestyles, Hobbies, Sports, Entertainment, Success-Building, Philosophy, Wealth-building. These cover much ground and have their sub-niches as well. Choose an area that interests you and go to it.

Write Without Being Pompous

An e-book is not the Great American or any other country’s novel. E-books tend to be shorter works. They are typically in an informal, conversational style. Yes, they’re packed with vital advice and info, but they are easy reading normally.

You want your audience to enjoy themselves while learning. Write in a breezy friend-to-friend style that makes your reader relaxed. This is conducive to them absorbing what you are trying to relate to them. This also builds goodwill and encourages linking back to your websites.

Present a Classy Overall Package

Plain and simple here; have an attractive cover to start. Then a table of contents, a page of additional resource links at the back and an index if needed. In between, shorter sentences, shorter paragraphs. Avoid long text blocks, use bullet points, have white space. In addition, crisp photos, colorful graphics as is appropriate, with clear captions. There’s an attractive complete and classy package for your readers.

Consider the above tips concerning developing your own e-book. Choose your topic, research it fully, add in your own expertise, and get writing. Maybe your e-book will turnout to be the next great thing in cyber-publishing. You never know.

How To Write A Newsletter (That People Read)

By Lilach Bullock

The most important thing you can remember when writing a newsletter is that most people are not going to read it. There are some things you can do to increase the number of actual readers out of subscribers, but always keep in mind that maybe one out of five subscribers will actually read your newsletter. In this article, we will go over some things you can do to increase the number of readers for your newsletter, not just the number of subscribers.

Something that people often forget and the thing that absolutely should be done first, is to make sure your subscribers know exactly what they are getting. Clearly state your newsletters contents and theme and clearly title it and summarize its contents in a short paragraph so that readers do not have to figure out what it is about by actually reading it. You will not do yourself any favours by getting subscribers for something they do not know about, and most people will cancel once they realize that your newsletter does not have anything that interests them.

A good way to break up the research for yourself is to figure out a variety of topics to write about. Finding three or four major topics and then breaking those up into sub-sections and then those sub-sections into articles and newsletters. Breaking up topics like this will allow you to generate fairly detailed material on a number of different subjects, while still being original and useful with your newsletter. If you are having a hard time writing about a given topic, go a little broader, which will help you use more information in a single newsletter to provide more material.

In the end, even if you follow all of these steps, even if you have got the best newsletter available, very few of the subscribers will read every one. Do not be afraid to promote your newsletter on related blogs, websites and even through other newsletters on similar subjects. All you want to do is make sure that your content is relevant, readable, and accessible. If you can write content that is actually useful for readers, easy for them to understand, and interesting enough that they want to read it in the first place, then your reader base will be that much more likely to read what you send them. The more people that actually read your newsletter, of course, the more people will continue to read and subscribe to what you write.

A Baker’s Dozen of Tips to Comfort You and Build Your Business during a Recession

By Brad McGovern

Yes, we’re in a recession and it’s going to take some digging to get ourselves out. These can be stressful times. During an economic downturn there’s often warmth and hope found in the simple things in life. Take comfort food, one of those things that can lift the heart and mind, and satisfy the tummy along the way. There truly is comfort in something as basic as a tray of baked goods and the like.

It’s going to take time, effort, and persistence to build your affiliate business in 2009. That’s the harsh reality of these present times. Therefore, it’s important to work hard. It’s also important to take a step back and ponder the important things in life. Difficult times mean assessing priorities concerning your personal and yes, business life.

With that in mind, sit back, and grab a baker’s dozen of something home-baked. Pour yourself a hot cup of coffee or tea and read on. We now present our baker’s dozen of tips to help you concerning internet marketing. We hope these tips comfort and encourage you to build your affiliate marketing business in 2009.

* Engage in article writing and plan an article marketing initiative. Content is crucial to building traffic to your website. Quality content with your links attached drive targeted traffic to your websites. This results in higher conversion rates than does generic traffic.

* SEO optimize your website. Your article writing for your article marketing campaigns contain keywords and phrases. Your website needs to include the right keywords and phrases as well. In this way, you show up higher-ranked in search results. Spend time choosing unique long-tail keyword phrases. The popular keywords may not get you ranked higher as many are using them. Create highly specific ones that searchers may enter.

* If you haven’t embraced it yet, start social networking. It does involve a time commitment. However, consistent effort in this area builds relationships just as face-to-face networking does. You can speak directly to your niche through specialty forums.

* If you have the budget for it, try Pay-Per-Click advertising. Used on search engines, ad sites, and websites and blogs, you pay when someone clicks your ad. With Pay-Per-Click, you bid on keyword phrases relevant to your niche market. Your ads will display on a site when a keyword query matches your keyword list.

* Spruce up your website “look.” With a critical eye, yours, or someone else’s, evaluate the image of your website. Is it attractive and appealing? Is it inviting? Boring, dull, and hard to navigate is out when it comes to marketing on the Internet.

* Consider building a downline. As an affiliate marketer you can have others working for you. Involve yourself in a two-tier program where those under you help you gain residual income. In this way, you earn even during leisure time. Remember, comfort food and leisure time goes together. Make time for both in 2009. Your business will be better for it.

* Start a blog. You can blog to talk casually with your niche. You can blog to encourage them to engage in dialog with you. Blogging pre-sells your affiliate products. Blogging builds traffic to your websites where you can really sell your niche.

* Check in with your affiliate program manager. Has it been awhile since you communicated with him or her? It’s wise to pick their brain about what’s new concerning your affiliate program. If you have specific concerns, you should direct these concerns to them. Their job is to answer your concerns.

* Learn to write your own banner ads and text ads. Consumers are used to seeing tons of generic ads on the Internet. When you write your own, they are unique and can garner attention.

* Don’t forget that offline marketing can aid your online business. Talk about your affiliate products to those you feel may benefit from them. On top of that, present your affiliate business opportunity as well.

* Consider writing and distributing press releases. Do you have noteworthy and newsworthy information concerning your affiliate business? Write a press release and spread the word. People won’t know unless you tell them.

* Make a marketing schedule. Affiliate marketing takes consistent effort in many areas. However, you can’t do them all at once. Don’t get overwhelmed. Have a set schedule where you perform one marketing activity per day.

* Finally, never give up on building a business. There are enough quitters in the world. Don’t be one of them.

Hope these tips help as you strive to build your affiliate marketing business. Refer to them often as you navigate the competitive business environment ahead. Take comfort in knowing that consistent effort in instituting the above tips will pay dividends. In addition, share those comforting home-baked goods, and then get marketing.

Copywriting to Attract Clients and Build a Profitable Business

By Cathy Goodwin

Learning copywriting has changed the way I write. Although my professional writing credits include print feature stories and a published book, copywriting enhanced my skills in three surprising ways. First, it forced me to think of the reader. Second, it forced me to focus on delivering benefits of what I was writing. Finally, copywriting helped me focus on results: what is the reader supposed to do?

What you may not know about copywriting is that website visitors make buying decisions based on copy — the words on the page. Your design and graphics have one function: to make it easier for visitors to read your words. When you ask Internet gurus - those making millions every year on the Internet - to name the most critical Internet marketing skill, just about every one of them will say, “Copywriting.”

I use copywriting when I create information products, write my ezines and blog. Many marketers think copywriting is just for advertisements and sales pages. But in fact whenever you interact with your clients and prospects, you are “on.” Your words will influence their decisions, whether you speak or write to them. Using basic copywriting principles will help you communicate your own message and leave prospects with a strong, positive impression.

Some marketers start out by thinking, “Anyone can write copy.” It is true: almost anyone can become a better copywriter with some training. But you have to begin by recognizing that copywriting calls for different skills than technical writing, literary fiction or journalism. To take just one example, good copywriting is invisible. No, we don’t write in invisible ink. But readers are not supposed to notice the writing. You can’t draw attention to a clever phrase or magnificent metaphor.

See what just happened? When you read, “Magnificent metaphor,” you might have slowed down to think, “Nice!” or maybe you don’t like alliteration so you’d say, “Silly!” But if I were writing a sales page, I wold probably change the phrase. I don’t want readers to stop to notice my words. I do want them to jump at the message - especially the benefits and value I want to communicate.

Another principle of copy is, “Write the way you speak.” Good copywriters don’t make basic grammar mistakes. For example, you probably won’t find sentences like, “These ideas is good.” But copywriters defy the lessons you may have learned from your ninth grade English teacher. We begin sentences with “And” or “But.” And we end with a preposition. “Who will you go with?” sounds more realistic than “With whom will you go?” When you write this way, your words probably won’t get in the way of the message you want to communicate.

Copywriting happens fast. Usually you work with deadlines. So another benefit of copywriting is that you learn tricks and tips to write faster, but still deliver a quality piece of writing to motivate readers to buy.

Why Should a Virtual Assistant Take Up Article Writing?

By Pam F Lokker

Everyone is telling new Internet marketers that one of the greatest ways to increase the visibility of their site, their company, as well as themselves is to write articles. Why? Let’s explore together whether article writing really is a good option and some of the reasons why you will do well to implement this and add it to your marketing plan.

1) Article writing can establish you as a subject matter expert.

You have gone into business with a purpose in mind as to what services and/or products you will offer to your clients. You have done this because you usually are very well-versed in that industry and believe that you can become successful and get a return on investment. By writing articles and having them published on the Internet, you are effectively saying that you know what you are talking about. People are going to trust you and want to read more content from you.

2) You don’t have to make a big investment to start writing articles.

We’re all conscious of money concerns these days, especially with the financial straits that our country is in right now. Writing articles can be done without spending a lot of cash. You can write them using a word processor or article writing software and then submit manually or through an article distribution service. Some will even allow you to submit for free.

3) Publishers and content site owners are always looking for new content.

By using an article distribution service, you can have your articles distributed to publishers and content site owners that are just clamoring for new information that they can publish to their avid readers. You get to choose the niche you want to write about and have it included in the categories that are most applicable to that niche. You couldn’t ask for better than that.

4) Your links to your website are published and readers click on those links.

I highly recommend that virtual assistants start out in Internet marketing with writing articles. This is a great way to drive traffic to your website, Squidoo pages, forums, blogs, social networks, and more. You have a convenient way to provide one or more links. Your articles get published and people click on your links. Wow! What a deal. Not only that, if you submit articles for your clients, you can drive traffic to their site, as well.

5) You have reusable content that you can use multiple times.

Articles are great for providing content that you can use over and over again, either in whole or in part. Do you have a blog site? If you have an article that you’ve submitted to various article directories, then you can take bits and pieces of that article and put it on your blog. You can also take multiple articles that you’ve written and bind them together into an eBook. Writing articles can act as a stepping stone into other areas of Internet marketing.

6) You can gain clients in a rapidly expanding section of Internet marketing.

By learning the ins and outs of article writing, you become knowledgeable. That means that you can specialize in Internet marketing, specifically in article writing.

There are three different areas that you can establish yourself as a service provider - an article writer, an article submitter to various article directories, or maybe it’s more your cup of tea to offer article editing to clients. Specialize in one or more - the time is right as this area of Internet marketing is gaining popularity rapidly.

So why should a virtual assistant take a look at article writing? Is it really worth the time and effort? I would say unequivocally yes. You’ve probably heard me say before that a virtual assistant should always be looking for ways to increase their value to a client.

Article writing has multiple benefits - both to you and your company, as well as potential clients. With the economy the way it is right now, the time is now to embark on a journey that will allow you to be looked upon as an expert in the article writing field for little investment. Publishers and content site owners are always looking for articles to include in their directories and can’t get their hands on enough.

Article writing is very popular right now; by writing articles, you will have content that you can use multiple times for blogs, websites, forums, and much more. Each time you have your articles published, you have a prime opportunity to drive traffic to your website or to your company as the readers out there click on your links.

In addition, not only can you increase your visibility, you can offer article writing services to your clients. It’s a win, win situation. Besides, writing gives you an outlet to relieve some of the pressures of real life by expressing yourself and releasing that pent-up creativity in you that you forgot you even had.

Winning Freelance Writing Assignments

By Shane Dayton

One of the hardest parts of starting out as a beginning freelance writer is tracking down and winning those freelance writing assignments. It is a little easier to find writing gigs online since there are a large number of websites that pay writers to write, but often times these sites pay less than the print markets, which are more competitive.

Landing even just a few good freelance writing assignments can be the difference between a starving artist income or that of a successful online entrepreneur. Getting the online writing career going isn’t all that difficult, if you know where to look for work and how to land those jobs. Finding these writing gigs really isn’t that difficult, especially with the resources that are available nowadays on the Internet.

Finding work for yourself can go one of several ways. One option, and this one is especially good for true beginners, is to join an auction based freelance writing site like Elance, Guru, or oDesk. Most of these sites have member fees, but these are easy places where a beginning freelance writer can go to bid on hundreds of writing jobs. This definitely takes the leg work out of finding writing assignments.

Another route is to send out query letters and to attempt to break into the print market. If you are going to look for freelance writing assignments by doing this, then you will need to research the individual magazines and markets that you’re looking at. Many of these markets are most friendly to new writers who are willing to write the short 50-300 word blurb for the short front of the magazine articles, or the back of the magazine short articles. This is harder, but it is possible. The other option is to look at smaller magazines and trade journals where it’s easier to break in as a new writer.

If getting writing assignments still remains difficult, work on your skills. Polish up the resume and your writing history, craft the best sample articles you’re capable of producing, and also consider making your own work. There are other websites online that accept articles you write for up front payment. This allows you to write what you want and get paid for it.

There are many ways to find freelance writing work on and off line. By keeping steady, looking for work, and producing good quality content you will not only be able to find all the writing assignments you want, but you’ll end up making a pretty good living, too.

If you would like to learn more about landing freelance writing assignments, or if you want to learn more about freelance writing, visit my blog for more great free information. Thanks for reading!

Does Your Nonprofit have a Grant Winning Strategy?

By Kirby Rooks

Here are five grant writing strategies that will give your nonprofit organization an edge in being awarded more grants during times of economic turmoil and make your nonprofit appear to be well managed. There are five strategies every nonprofit should consider when writing grant proposals in today’s recession:

1. Make sure that your client’s goals and objectives are in tune with the grant maker’s initiatives. This is important any time but is crucial during times of tight money. If the foundation that you are writing has stated on their website or annual report that they intend to make a major impact on feeding starving children in Africa and you mission is to educate children in metro areas you might want to reconsider the foundation you have picked.

2. It’s also crucial to talk with and build a strong relationship with the program officer. The reason for this is to save time for both of you. Let’s say you have researched the initiatives of XYZ Foundation and your mission is very much right along the same line. Then you might want to discuss with the program officer for XYZ about how much money they would suggest you request as a first time grantee or find out if they would like to make a site visit and discuss your programs and philosophy. That way when you write the grant or Letter of Inquiry or other formal request that you both agree on its content’s so there is not a lot of paper shuffle.

3. During bad economic times cut your request down. The size you should request of a grant during these trying economic times can be discovered when building your relationship with the program officer. Remember if you wanted $25,000, but the program officer suggest $10,000 is more along the lines they had in mind don’t ask for anything more then $10,000. You will create trust and respect from the program officer by relying on their advice.

4. You should research more foundation’s and corporate gifting organization’s to make up the difference for smaller grant sizes. Utilize your community funding library and all the tools they have to initiate a broader appeal by spreading around the request to more funders so that no one funder feels they are totally at risk. Remember that there is safety in numbers both for the nonprofit and the funder.

5. Don’t ignore your individual donations and volunteers. Let the foundation’s program officer know about your plans to increase your individual donation base as well as receiving grants as a means to keep cash flowing in the door and your volunteer base growing. Program officers feel very warm and fuzzy when they know you are trying to also grow your donation base by say 20% this coming year. Once again it is a matter of spreading the risk around so that you make every one feel at ease.

If you follow these strategies and implement these suggestion’s you should see more grants awarded and your nonprofit should have no problem weathering the economic storm.

Make sure you write your organization’s strategies down and share them with your staff and board so that everyone’s input is included as how to best accomplish the above in your grant winning process.

3 Steps To Writing Article Headlines

By Ben Needles

The article headline is the most important part of the article writing process, or any other online marketing venture that you are involved in. If you choose a phrase for your article title or headline that is not searched for, it is likely your article will not get much traffic. Follow these 3 easy steps to writing a catchy headline and you will be on your way to generating more traffic to your website.

GETTING IDEAS
Consider the main idea of your article and make a short list of keywords that relate to what you are writing about. Using the free keyword tools available on the internet, type in your keywords, then create a second list of the keyword phrases that are generating traffic. Before moving on, you should have at least 10-20 keyword phrases that we will use for our research. You can add, remove, or change words from your keyword phrases to create another idea for your headline.

RESEARCHING
Now that we have several keyword phrases, we need to find the one that is popular, but not already plastered all over the web. Start at the top of your keyword list, and begin searching Google for the phrase using quotations (keyword phrase). Take note of the optimized results. This is the number at the top right of the search results. Now count the number of ads listed on the right side of the page. Move on to they next keyword phrase, and continue this process until you have done a search for all of your phrases.

CHOOSE YOUR ARTICLE HEADLINE
For article marketing, we need to take into consideration that different article directories have different requirements. A good rule of thumb is any keyword phrase with 1,000-5,000 optimized results (we should have this written down next to our keywords) and at least a few paid ads will be a good title for our article. If you find more than one with optimized results in our range, I would recommend using the one with the most paid ads. Dont get excited if you find one with 10 or 20 optimized results unless there are paid ads; chances are it is not a highly searched phrase. For large article directories such as Ezine Articles, you can probably use a keyword phrase with up to 10,000 optimized results. I would not recommend going any higher than that, as you will most likely not get lucky enough to end up on the first page of Google, and in turn, not get much traffic.

There is really not a lot of work that goes into choosing a headline for your article. Just follow these 3 steps for every article that your write, search Google within 24 hours for your article headline, and look for your listing on the first page.

The article headline is the most important part of the article writing process, or any other online marketing venture that you are labyrinthine in. If you choose a phrase for your article title or headline that is not searched for, it is likely your article will not get much traffic. Keep up these 3 easy steps to writing a catchy headline and you will be on your way to generating more dealings to your website.

Consider the main idea of your article and make a short list of keywords that colligate to what you are writing about. Using the free keyword tools usable on the internet, type in your keywords, then create a second list of the keyword phrases that are generating traffic. CHOOSE YOUR article HEADLINE
For article marketing, we need to take into consideration that different article directories have different requirements. A good rule of thumb is any keyword phrasal idiom with 1,000-5,000 optimized results (we should have this scripted down next to our keywords) and at least a few paid ads will be a good title for our article. If you find more than one with optimized results in our range, I would recommend using the one with the most paid ads. Dont get emotional if you find one with 10 or 20 optimized results unless there are paid ads; chances are it is not a highly searched phrase. For large article directories such as Ezine Articles, you can believably use a keyword phrase with up to 10,000 optimized results. I would not recommend going any higher than that, as you will most likely not get lucky adequate to end up on the first page of Google, and in turn, not get much traffic.

There is genuinely not a lot of work that goes into choosing a headline for your article. Just follow these 3 steps for every article that your write, hunt Google within 24 hours for your article headline, and look for your listing on the first page.

Article Writing On Giving Up Smoking

By Chris Kennelly

Perhaps you are one of the lucky or hard working ones that have managed to give up smoking and you feel that you could share your techniques or tips with the world to offer some support to those looking to give up or stop smoking. You may have discovered that sure win strategy or habit breaking formula that will enable some die hard smokers to kick the habit. In this instance one should look at article writing to share this insight that may have been truly unique during your giving up process.

One would think that smoking, in general, is deemed to be a very bad health affecting habit, yet so many people smoke, and enjoy doing so. By highlighting the negativities in article writing may not reach your target audience, as they are continually exposed to the negative connotations that are regularly published by the anti smoking lobbyists. Hence one might want to approach the article writing exercise from a more compassionate point, possibly a point that you had experienced and can then to relate to the smoker that may be reading your article.

One should look at addressing the feelings and actions that you went through, whilst article writing, as the audience may need something or someone that they can relate to, not being in a position of being lectured or frowned upon, as is the case with the mentioned lobbyists. By approaching the reader from a more compassionate point of view in the beginning of the article writing process, you will capture the attention of the reader, whereby you can share with them your experiences and then quote the facts and figures towards the end as a closing statement in the article.

One will have to cast oneself back in time, to the period that you gave up smoking and try and recall the exact feelings that you were experiencing as well as the defining moment that made you decide to give up. This utilised in the article writing process will give the reader the insight and possibly create his or her defining moment to join the ranks of ex smokers. One should also approach it from a subtle and common sense angle that will ensure the reader continues to read on and becomes engulfed in the article. You will have the opportunity to share with that reader instead of them going off to the next item to be read.

Your article writing efforts are meant to provide a valuable source of inspiration for people, as well as the opportunity for you to share with those out there that may possibly benefit from your experiences, albeit good or bad, during your time of giving up. Utilize this opportunity to provide constructive and valuable advice to those that may read your work.

What is SEO; What is SEO Writing; What is SEO Copywriting?

By Yuwanda Black

Many freelancers have questions about what is SEO; what is SEO copywriting; what is SEO writing. This article explains - in detail-what this is. And, how to make money from it as a freelance writer.

What is SEO?

SEO is an acronym for the phrase “search engine optimization.” Search engine optimization is all about doing specific things to your website to drive more traffic to it so that you can increase online sales — and traffic.

What are some of these “things?”

There are many, but here we will discuss what it is as it applies to freelance writers. And, this means writing text in a certain way so that web surfers (ie, internet users) can land on a particular site.

What is SEO As It Relates to Freelance Writers?

What freelance writers need to be concerned with is keywords. What are keywords? Keywords are the words and phrases that web surfers type in when they search for things online.

For example, let’s say you were interested in starting a foreclosure cleanup business. You may know nothing about it other than foreclosures are hot in the news right now and you are interested in maybe starting this kind of business.

But, you know nothing about it.

So, you log onto your favorite search engine, (eg, Google, Yahoo! MSN, etc.) and type in the keywords “foreclosure cleaning business” or “foreclosure cleaning” or “foreclosure cleanup” or some other relevant keyword phrase.

Note: When you type words to find something on the internet it’s called a keyword (one word) or a keyword phrase (two or more words).

How Businesses Get to the Top of Search Engine Results

When you type in these words and hit “ENTER”, a bunch of sites pop up and you start to surf (ie, click on the results and start investigating the sites to see if they have the information you need.

The sites that pop up are the results that search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, et al think are the most relevant to the keyword phrase (ie, search phrase) you typed in. Companies pay a lot of money to be among the first two or three pages in the results that search engines return.

Why SEO Copywriters are So In Demand and How They Make Their Money

One of the ways they get to pop up in the first two or three pages of results is to have relevant text that contains the proper keyword phrases. And, this is where you as an SEO copywriter can make a lot of money. You write the text that their site needs to pop up high in search engine results.

There are many freelance writers - hundreds of thousands, if not a few million. BUT, only a tiny minority know what SEO is and how to write this type of copy. And, this is why they’re so in demand.

SEO copywriters have an in-demand skill. And, as more and more companies move larger portions of their advertising budgets to internet marketing, there is an even greater demand for their skills.

In the SearcheEngineWatch article, The SEO Copywriter: Wordsmithing the Web, William Flaiz, underscores the importance of an SEO copywriter. He writes:

“The role of the agency SEO copywriter is unique because. … Suddenly, the writer must optimize press releases, craft articles for social news, monitor social network communications, and develop wiki content. … a strong SEO copywriter is adaptable and capable of internalizing a lot of new information extremely quickly. These unique individuals have fast become the backbone of many SEO engagements. If content is king, then they SEO copywriters are the kingmakers.”

And this is why SEO copywriters can charge a premium for their services. If you’re looking for a way to start or maximize your income as an online freelance writer, then SEO copywriting is they way to go.

ABC’s of Writing For The Web

By Tiva Kelly

Affiliate marketing is a business undertaking that involves wearing many hats. One day you’re studying to learn more about the products you sell. The next day you find yourself sprucing up your web page design. Then there’s the words you must write to promote your affiliate products.

Writing to promote your business means writing in many styles. You will write in different voices. You will write copy of different lengths; some involved discourse; some short and snappy. It all depends on the promotional initiative you are involved with currently.

If you’re new to affiliate marketing, it’s wise to start with the ABCs of web writing. By ABCs, we’re talking about writing across different platforms. Yes, there are the DEFs and so on to consider too. However, today we will look at Ads, Blogs, and Content as applies to articles. The following is a quick overview of what to focus on in each discipline:

Ads

Advertisements are your vehicle to promote your affiliate products concisely. They are typically short bursts of information designed to grab your niche market’s attention. The goal of a good ad is to inspire the reader to action. The following tips will help your ad writing connect with your audience:

* Have an effective headline stating a product benefit. This could be something as simple as “The Number One Omega-3 Product for Lowering Cholesterol.” This immediately tells the reader what the ad is about and why the product will benefit them.

* Don’t write for yourself; write for your potential customer. Think of their wants and needs and speak directly to them in clear precise language. Don’t write from a selfish point of view. Write to give information to your audience, while at the same time encouraging them to act.

* Use customer testimonials in your copy. This can be short comments by customers describing how a product helped them.

* Place an incentive in your ad. Describe the incentive appropriately. This could be a coupon code that a customer later inputs. This could be for a product discount on your website.

* Write persuasive body copy. Again, you want your audience to take action and order from you. Give them quality information that tells them why they should.

Blogs

With your blog writing, adapt a more conversational tone designed to encourage reader comments. Your blog is a platform to keep your niche market current on topics related to your affiliate products. Invite them to be active participants in your blog community.

Use a blog to educate and entertain your readers. With vibrant, informative writing, you build credibility as an Internet marketer. You subsequently encourage linking back to your website where you can begin the selling process. A blog is a vehicle to engage in pre-selling your target market.

Vary the length and scope of your blog posts. This adds variety to the blog. You do not want the blog to appear as a rambling string of long dry posts of the same length every day. Make some posts light and breezy in tone. Make some posts detailed product reviews. Just remember to write a minimum of three times a week for your blog.

Content (For Articles)

Article writing for your article marketing initiatives is your meat and potatoes writing. This writing really lets your affiliate product expertise shine. In depth, well-researched articles that give useful information to readers pay great dividends.

First, you can present a lot of information in an article. You have the freedom to expound on a topic more than you do with ad writing. Second, you present information without the hyped-up sales language. Readers do not feel that you are pressuring them to buy with article writing. This is your chance to build the trust factor with them. When they are comfortable with you, they will often link back to your website.

Engage in quality article writing and then plan an article promotion campaign. Use this type of content to build further your credibility as an affiliate marketer. In addition, don’t forget to choose a good article distribution service to get that content to a broad spectrum of Internet publishers.

Learn the ABCs of web writing to promote your affiliate business. Once you are proficient, move on to other platforms. Learn to write effectively for some of them as well. This could be Direct Mail, E-Newsletters, and Forum posting, and so on down the alphabet. Words are crucial to helping your target market understand you and your affiliate products better.

Top 10 ways on how to think of a topic when writing an essayTop 10 ways on how to think of a topic when writing an essay

By Jordan Kavooosi

The first thing that strikes our mind while writing a composition is to choose a topic for the essay. However, before this we need to keep in mind the normal format of how to write an essay. This can be the foremost requirement while writing any editorial. There are different types of essays on which you can decide accordingly. These essays may include narrative essays, descriptive essays and political essays to name a few.

Top 10 ways on how to think of a topic when writing an essay

The initial thing that should be kept in mind while you are starting to write an essay is the purpose. Until and unless you decide a purpose for writing, you might not be able to start with the job. You can choose accordingly, like if you want to encourage people, or complain about something, just present your ideas or even just write about yourself. Once you have the idea, you can easily think of a topic of interest.

If you want to select a topic for your article, think of 5 to 10 issues. Then narrow five topics of your interest and from these 5 select the best two. Out of these two topics, chose the one you feel comfortable writing.

You can choose a topic from the current events that take place in daily life.

The best way to choose a topic for writing an essay is to pick up the topics that seem to be interesting for you.

You can write some questions on various themes and choose a topic randomly.

You can also opt for free writing and this will help you to choose a topic.

You should opt for a topic on which the data is freely available.

While opting for a topic, never limit your ideas and do not stick to common topics.

To choose a topic, always think about the matters on which you can write meaningfully and easily convey the message.

If you want to choose a topic, do not just think that the topic you are writing should be a hit. This can restrict your idea and ward you off from creativity.

How to write an essay?

Once you have picked up a topic, carry out proper research for the related matter. Do a proper analysis on the subject and write your ideas and sum them up. Before writing the essay, keep in mind all the points that you have noted down. Then write down an introduction for the subject and make sub headings. Engrave the complete information that is required in every sub heading and give a conclusion for the entire matter. When writing the essay, make sure the language you use is apt and avoid mixing the concept. The mixing of concept can make it difficult for the user to understand the idea.

So if you also want to write an essay, keep these things in mind while choosing a topic. These guidelines will definitely help you to write an effective piece of writing.

SEO Copywriting: A Career That’s Flourishing Despite Tough Economic Times

By Yuwanda Black

In the CareerBuilder article, Five Careers That Sail Through a Tough Economy, one of the professions listed was that of web designer. The author wrote:

“The Internet has evolved from an information resource into a robust economic platform. Companies take advantage of low-overhead Internet storefronts to tap new markets worldwide . . . They need a compelling Web presence to reel in customers — and that’s where you come in.”

Why the Depressed Economy Means Opportunity for Freelance (SEO) Writers

Where web designers are is where the work is for freelance SEO writers. Really, this spells opportunity for all types of freelance writers. But, SEO copywriters have a distinct advantage in that more and more companies are pouring larger portions of their ad budgets into online advertising.

Why are they doing this? For three reasons primarily:

Online advertising is cheaper than traditional media outlets: Compared to television ads, radio spots and newspaper buys, online advertising is much, much cheaper for companies. As online marketing is a relatively new medium, many companies haven’t caught on to just how lucrative this type of advertising can be.

Tough economic times cause many to look — for perhaps the first time — at this outlet. And, once they see the ROI numbers (Return on Investment), they’re simply astounded that they haven’t tried it before.

Speaking of ROI . . .

Large ROI: Marketing is less about how much you spend — as long as it’s in your budget — but what you get back in return. And, online advertising returns have proven to be a lot larger than traditional media advertising. The success of the biggest player in the internet marketing game — Google — tells the story.

In the article, 1/22/09 article, Will Google survive the downturn?, journalist Andrew Horowitz writes, “Google has established consistent earnings per share and sales growth since its inception despite the troubles within the economy as of late.”

A huge part of Google’s income is made from advertisers spending money on pay-per-click and other internet marketing campaigns. This is only going to increase.

Businesses Love Online Advertising: Once they discover how lucrative internet marketing is, businesses fall in love with it. Features like real-time feedback contribute to the love affair. What is real-time feedback? When a company runs a pay-per-click campaign, for example, they can instantly check the data to see how their ads are performing.

This allows them to tweak what’s not working and to expand what is. This saves thousands — and for some companies — millions of dollars in advertising. Why? Because they don’t have to wait for a newspaper to circulate for example, to know how effective their ad campaign was.

The Career Opportunities for SEO Copywriters are Vast — and Growing Fast!

What drives online advertising? Search engine optimization (SEO). And, there are few who know what it is. Those who learn — and do so now, the beginning of this boom — will be able to build lucrative freelance writing businesses that will sustain them for years to come.

Yuwanda Black is a freelance SEO writer and publisher of InkwellEditorial.com. She is the author of “How to Make $250+/Day Writing Simple, 500-word Articles,” among other ebooks.

Article Marketing - Writing Articles Will Be The Best Way To Promote Yourself And Your Business

By Connie Ragen Green

You can write articles to promote yourself and your business online. By using the right words in the title of the article and throughout the article, people will be able to easily find you and you will do more business. Article writing and marketing is the fastest and easiest way to get some free advertising for yourself and your business.

Keep your articles about three hundred words in length. This will enable you to get to the point and keep the attention of your readers. People who are searching for information on the internet want to be able to read your article quickly to see if they are interested in learning more or want to search for something else. By keeping the word count to a minimum, you will end up with a highly qualified lead if the reader clicks through to your site after reading what you have written.

Make a short outline before you begin writing your article so that you will include your key points. This also makes the article flow more smoothly and helps to keep the reader focused. Remember that the goal is to get your reader to read through your article and get to the link in your resource box. This is where you have the opportunity to share what you are doing with the reader.

Make a list of your keyword phrases that apply to your niche. Then, include these keywords in the title of the article and within the body of the article. Each article should only focus on one keyword phrase. This will ensure that those who click through to your site are searching for exactly what you have to offer.

Include just enough valuable information on your topic to keep the reader reading until the very end. Then you can encourage them to visit your blog or website in order to find out even more.

I start my articles with a two or three sentence introduction. If someone is looking for information and finds it there in the very beginning, they are likely to keep reading. Next, I describe what I will be sharing. Remember that these articles will be short, so don’t make any big promises.

Then I give out my information in a way that is easy to read and understand. Most of my articles tend to be at the ninth or tenth grade reading level. Keep your articles simple and readers will always come back for more. Article writing and marketing gives you the opportunity to share your information with more people than you could ever have imagined.

The Beginner’s Guide To Successful Article Writing

By Roberto Garabell

When we think of writers, we tend to think of people who have a college degree in Journalism or who have taken many writing classes. or maybe they are experts in something like nuclear fission, and can write articles explaining it better than anyone else. Actually, all you need is your own creativity!

This third kind of writer needs to have specific qualities. They need to have a strong streak of creativity, good writing skills, and the desire to be a good writer. Also, a thick skin is needed. Every writer a piece writing rejected at some point. If you canat take rejection, you wonat last long. With the desire to write, and the willingness to work on writing skills, you can be successful.

The world is filled with topics. A heated PTA meeting, an obnoxious coworker, issues with aging parents, relationships, children, communities, hobbiesaall the things that makeup your everyday life are great subjects for articles. The ability to see the uniqueness and the commonality of your experiences will help you come up with articles other people will want to read.

Article writing has many benefits. No one tells you what you have to write, you get to choose. It is also very flexible. If you need to write between three and five am, no one will know or care. You can write your articles at the local coffee shop or at the kitchen table. It is all about what works best for you.

Now, there are some good guidelines to follow if you are going to get serious about this sort of thing. It is good to set a specific time everyday to sit down and brainstorm and write your articles. By doing this you are treating it like a business, which if you are earning money by doing so, it is. It also helps you plan anything else going on in your day and gives you a sense of accomplishment and organization. Also, get all of the tools you will need ready so you won’t have to keep getting up and looking for them. Pencil, computer and most importantly a dictionary and thesaurus.

Article writers are lucky because writers who focus on books have to go months, or even years, before they get feedback (or pay!) from editors and publishers. As an article writer, however, you can receive feedback (and pay!) in a matter of weeks.

So, how do you get started on your first article? A great beginning move is to start carrying an aideasa journal. Whenever you experience something interesting, jot it down! See a picture that makes you think, paste it in! Is there something you read that you canat get out of your mind? Put that in, too. Then go through it, looking for something you feel would make a great article.

After youave written the article, youall want to get it published. The Writers Market is full of ideas about places to submit your article. It is available for purchase online and in bookstores. Best of luck with this exciting new career!

Outsourcing Your Content Writing

By Roberto Garabell

A lot of webmasters use articles to provide content for their readers to enjoy, or to promote a product. If your website is a small one you may be able to handle the article writing on your own. However in some cases you will definitely need to consider the services of a ghostwriter to help you.

A ghostwriter is a person who writes anonymously, meaning their name does not appear as the author of the article. The webmaster who pays for the article to be written, also pays for the rights to the article.

So how does one decide when to use the services of a ghostwriter? Listed below are a few reasons to outsource your content to a ghostwriter, aka a qualified custom article writer.

1. Your website is growing and you can’t write fast enough. Your website visitors will only continue coming to a site that provides consistent fresh content. A website that doesn’t provide new content for their visitors is like inviting friends over for dinner and serving them leftovers from last week. I can assure you they will not quickly return to your house for dinner! Nor will your website visitors return to your website if they find the same content over and over. What need is there to return?

If you really want your visitors to return to your site serve up fresh content on a regular basis. You can do it yourself if you have the time and talent; if not outsource the work to ghostwriters. Either way you will benefit as more visitors means more sales. Need proof? Consider the popularity of blogs. The constantly changing content is one of the main reasons blogs are so popular; people know they will get fresh content when they visit.

2. You sell a product but you simply can’t write good articles. Okay, face it. Not everyone can write; yet we all know that content is necessary for selling products on the Internet. Even if you don’t use articles to drive traffic to your site, you need to be able to write descriptions of your products. You need pre-sell pages. You need Thank You pages. In some cases you need passive, indirect sales pages where an article provides excellent information that subtly guides the visitor to the shopping cart. But if you can’t write your site becomes a dull, boring blight on the Internet landscape and your site soon dies an unprofitable death.

Thankfully, there are people who can write and who love to write. Ghostwriters are in the business of writing articles, product descriptions, press releases, content pages of all kinds - and you can legally pretend that you were the author. By hiring a ghostwriter you can now focus on selling and customer service and smile all the way to the bank.

3. Time is limited and you simply don’t have time to write. Many webmasters hold down a full time job and work on the Internet in their spare time. Maybe you have a dozen plus websites and can’t keep up the pace of writing for so many sites to keep them fresh. Maybe you’re a full-time wife and mother.

Whatever the reason many website owners simply don’t have time to dedicate to writing content. The good news is that even if you are working 40 hours a week on a full time job, or 24 hours a day as a wife and mother you can still earn money on the Internet. Yes, you still need good, quality content. Thankfully it’s not hard to locate a qualified content ghostwriter these days! By using the services of a ghostwriter “you can have your cake and eat it too”, meaning you can keep your current job or role as wife and mother and build up a nice Internet business on the side. What a deal.

4. You hate to write. You really shouldn’t even try to write if you hate it. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t own a website! Usually one would be told, “Don’t go into that business if you hate it so much”, but with building websites you can hate to write and still build a very successful business. Yes, the surest path to failure is to work in a career one hates. Can you imagine a pastor who hates people? or, a chef who hates to cook?

Thankfully, that is not the case with websites. You can hate to write (and websites require lots of writing) and still be a huge success story if you discover how to use ghostwriters. So, if you simply hate to write don’t fret! Chalk it up as one of your reasons to outsource your content to a ghostwriter. Not that you really need a reason. Outsourcing is just good business sense allowing you to double and triple your income without doubling or tripling your work. Now, that is a really good deal!
